MANAGER Jason Matthews hailed the impact player-coach Mark Molesley has had in the Terras’ set-up this season and wished him well in his new role with AFC Bournemouth.
Following the promotion of Stephen Purches to first-team coach, Molesley will step up to manage the Cherries’ under-21s at least until the end of the campaign, as well as balancing his playing and coaching at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
Asked whether Molesley’s new position with the Premier League club will have an influence on his current role at Weymouth, Matthews replied: “I don’t think it affects him at all.
“Obviously it’s a bit of a dual role for Moles and good luck to him.
“He works really hard at his football and puts a lot of effort in, it’s well deserved.”
Weymouth are to host a youth six-a-side tournament at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
The competition is due to take place from April 29 to May 1 and will be for children from the under-6 age group through to the Under-13s.
It will be spread across three days, with the under-6 to under-9s playing on April 29, the under-10s and under-11s playing on April 30 and the Under-12 and under-13s playing on May 1.
Teams wishing to enter, at £25 per team, should respond to the club quickly, as there is a limited number of entrants for each age group.
Entrance for spectators is by way of purchasing a programme at a cost of £2, with refreshments available along with some other stalls.
