WEYMOUTH striker Stewart Yetton has called upon his team-mates to get back to winning ways against Basingstoke Town on Saturday (3pm.)
The Terras had been on a four-match unbeaten run before Monday’s defeat to Cambridge City, but Yetton has claimed conditions didn’t help his team.
He said: “We’re obviously disappointed not to win. We thought it was a good opportunity but on that pitch it wasn’t ideal. It was probably the worst pitch we’ve played on this season.
“We started well but in the second half we just stepped away from what we did in the first half and within 20 minutes we were behind. It’s hard to come back when the other side are in the ascendency.”
Despite the defeat, Yetton has spoken of the increase in confidence within the squad and is hopeful the team can start to build towards a successful run-in to the season.
He said: “You can see some of the boys are starting to build up their confidence.
“The main thing is to ensure we get back on track on Saturday, because before Monday it felt like we had turned a corner.
“Everyone would openly admit we aren’t where we want to be. Quite frankly it’s not been good enough for a mixture of reasons.
“For me, it’s disappointing but we are where we are. The target now has to be to try and win every game. If you can win the next three or five games you can start to look up the table and things look different.
“Realistically it’s going to be tough but with a few wins we can hopefully get within touching distance of the play-offs.”
