Rolls warns Weymouth players to shape up or ship out
By Adam Summers

Monday 23rd January 2012

GEORGE Rolls has told Weymouth’s under-performing players to shape up or ship out.

The Cambridge-based businessman, who is set to return to the club as chairman, made the stinging attack following yesterday’s 4-0 defeat at Evesham United.

Despite not having attended the game, Rolls told Echosport: “By all accounts it was another poor display and it was just not good enough. We are paying good money to a lot of them and they are not performing.

“They are letting themselves down and the club down, and it appears some of them are just turning up to collect their wages each week. They are embarrassing the club at this moment in time.”

He went on to add: “Some of them have been acting like big-time Charlies in the dressing room of late but the fact we have now suffered defeats and let in a total of 10 goals at Hitchin Town, Arlesey Town and Evesham is totally unacceptable.

“We have a top-six budget in the league and we expect a lot better so it’s a case of shape up or ship out.

“Clubs talk and at the moment we are paying out more than Dorchester Town.

“When you think of it like that, and look at the dross we have served up recently, something has to change and quick.”

The Terras now sit just five points above the drop-zone in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier but they do hold games in hand on the majority of the teams below them.
