Jeannin set to bolster Terras
By Adam Summers
Friday 27th January 2012
ALEX Jeannin could return for the Terras tomorrow when they
make the daunting trip to high-flying Oxford City (3pm).
The Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division title contenders have
only lost once in 12 league games at the Court Place Farm
Stadium so far this season while Weymouth have only taken
one point from their last four on the road.
Brendon Kings men have also conceded a whopping 13 goals
in their last three outings a trend the Terras
boss is hoping to buck with the help of Jeannin and a change
of formation.
He told Echosport: It is going to be a really tough
game there is no doubt about that.
They are fifth in the table and still in the mix for
the title, and they are obviously there for a reason.
What we want is a reaction. We had a chat with the lads
in training and aired a few things, and now it is all about
trying to bounce back.
We may have lost the last three but two of them were
away from home and the other one was against Alfreton Town,
who are two leagues above us.
"Although we were disappointed with our performances
in all three games I think people might be looking into that
a bit too much.
At the end of the day we still have pretty much the
same set of players who beat St Albans and AFC Totton a few
weeks back so there is no reason why we cannot rediscover
that form and start turning things around.
We have been working on a new system in training and
there is every possibility we might go with that in order
to make us a bit stronger away from home.
Just recently we have been getting hit on the break
quite a lot and it is important we try and address that.
Commenting on Jeannin, who has missed the last two games,
King added: As long as he suffers no ill-effects from
training, following his calf injury, he will be in the squad.
Having him back would certainly be a massive boost because
not only is he a great talker and organiser but he also has
huge experience, which is something we have been missing the
last couple of weeks.
Goalkeeper Tom Manley is struggling with illness, which means
Nick Jordan is likely to retain the number one spot with Chris
Povall supplying cover on the bench.
The game will also mark the end of Byron Nappers current
loan deal. The Crawley Town aces future is still far
from clear with King expecting to find out more over the next
24 hours.
He said: We are trying to keep him but it is still very
much up in the air.
The Terras beat Oxford 1-0 at the Bob Lucas Stadium on October
25 but currently sit 15th, just five points above the drop-zone.
They also face another tough game at Stourbridge this coming
Tuesday.
* George Rolls, whose wife Amanda owns the majority shareholding
in the Terras, has admitted to having held talks with Kettering
Town chairman Imraan Ladak but insists no takeover of the
troubled club was ever going to materialise.
He said: I did have discussions with Imraan Ladak around
two-and-a-half weeks ago but due to dual interests it was
never on the cards.
