Duff: My biggest game
By Adam Summers
Saturday 14th January 2012
CRAIG Duff has branded this afternoons FA Trophy clash
against Alfreton Town (3pm) the biggest game of his career
so far.
The midfielder, who joined Weymouth from Bovey Tracey back
in September, is looking forward to the challenge and is adamant
his team-mates will rise to the occasion.
Speaking ahead of the second round tie at the Bob Lucas Stadium,
Duff told Echosport: For me personally this will be
my biggest ever game against the hardest team I have ever
faced and there is no doubt we are all looking forward to
testing ourselves.
Due to Alfreton being in the Conference, two leagues
above us, most outsiders would say we have got no chance whatsoever
but we are confident we can pull it off.
We have tended to raise our game against the better
sides this season and hopefully we can do the same today and
get the victory.
We have certainly got the firepower. The front six
have all been regularly getting on the scoresheet so there
is no reason why we cannot cause them a few problems.
Despite having stepped up three levels this season, Duff
has so far netted seven goals in all competitions for the
Terras but knows there is still room for improvement.
He added: I feel like I have done well but I still
have not performed as consistently as I would have liked and
I am hoping that will come with experience of playing at this
level.
One thing is for sure though and that is I am really
enjoying my football at the moment. At the beginning of the
season I was thinking about knocking it on the head but since
I have come to Weymouth it has been fantastic.
I get on with the manager and the boys and there is
just a great atmosphere here at the moment.
The fans have been incredible too and they really give
us a lift. Hopefully they will be able to do that again this
afternoon.
