For Bob

IAN Hutchinson has urged his players to honour the life of
late club president Bob Lucas by capturing a positive result
at the Grove tomorrow (3pm).
Lucas, a former Terras keeper, passed away yesterday
morning and the Weymouth boss knows the best way to pay tribute
to all the great work the stalwart did at the club is to open
their Zamaretto Premier Division campaign with at least a
point.
However, in Halesowen Town, Hutchinsons young side
face a tough task. Not only do the Yeltz possess former Premier
League star Stefan Moore (ex-Aston Villa) but they also have
a seasoned campaigner in Tony Thorpe (ex-Luton Town), who
has a wealth of Football League experience.
Hutchinson, who could be without the services of striker
Jules Emati-Emati due to a knock he picked up in training
on Tuesday, said: Without a doubt it is a real tough
start for us. When you look at their squad and see the likes
of Stefan Moore, you know it is going to be a big task, but
for the lads it is a great opportunity to pit their wits against
very talented footballers.
That is how they have got to look at it and they should
be relishing the challenge. If they can go out there and express
themselves, and do what we have been working on in pre-season
then we can ask no more of them.
It would certainly be very fitting if we could go up
there and get a result for our late president. And if we go
into the game with the same passion he always showed for this
club throughout the years, we will have half a chance.
Halesowen, like the Terras this season, began the 2009/10
campaign with a 10-point deduction but still managed to finish
eighth in the Premier Division, just two points adrift of
a play-off berth.
