Account set up for legal fight
By Derek Bish

Saturday 3rd July 2010

WEYMOUTH Football Club has announced details of the bank account it has set up to raise money for legal challenges against former chairman Malcolm Curtis and Wessex Park Ltd.

The Terras need to raise £20,000 to begin civil proceedings and the first £1,000 of that has already been donated by Weymouth FC Suppo-rters’ Association.

For money to be withdrawn or paid out from the account it would require the signatures of both Terras chairman George Rolls and Weymouth FC Supporters’ Asso-ciation (WSA) chairman Adrian McDonald.

A statement from WSA said: “The supporters’ association will be arranging for collections to be made towards the fund at forthcoming pre-season home matches. “We will ourselves be making an immediate donation of £1,000 to the fund and we will be helping the club board with the public side of the necessary fundraising.

“We would ask all Terras fans to donate whatever amount they can.

We will keep supporters informed on the course and progress of proceedings.”

Other ways of donating to the cause is by sending a cheque to Weymouth FC, Wessex Stadium, Radipole Lane, Weymouth DT4 9XJ, or direct into the Lloyds TSB account that has been set up (Account number: 00027402. Sort code: 30-91-74).

When contacted by Echosport last month, Curtis refused to comment.
