WEYMOUTH manager Jerry Gill has started to shape the future
of the team by blooding the clubs youngsters into his
squad and hopes they will still be playing Blue Square South
football with the Terras next season.
Teenage defenders Jordan Vincent and Jamie Frampton have
earned call-ups to the starting XI in the last two matches,
while Gill has also spoken with the likes of reserve-team
regulars Ben Reiffer and Scott Dixon about their future at
the Wessex Stadium.
And after Matt Groves another player who has benefited
from a spell in Dave Kiteleys reserve side this season
netted a dramatic equaliser against Braintree Town
on Tuesday night, Gill said he felt buoyant about the future.
Ive told them to stay with me, he said.
I spoke to them all individually in training and said
Im building for the future as well and I need these
kids around me.
I speak to Dave Kiteley on a regular basis and he gives
me reports on them and the games on a Saturday.
Its the reason I blooded Jordan Vincent and Jamie
Frampton away at Bath. Ive seen bits of them and they
deserve their chance with me.
I dragged off young Jordan at half-time on Tuesday
but hes fine, weve had a chat and we move on to
the next one.
Im buoyant but know theres a lot of work
that still needs to be done.
Frampton has made the most appearances of the current crop
of youngsters trying to force their way into the first team
Tuesdays appearance was the 10th time he has
lined up in the Terras starting XI this season.
Meanwhile, the likes of Carl Foster, Ollie Tribe, Vincent,
Reiffer and Dixon are not too far behind.
I had a long conversation with Scott Dixon before the
game on Tuesday, said the Terras boss. Hes
a good player, Ive seen him in training and the frustrating
thing is I dont get to see these kids on a weekly basis
because they play on a Saturday, the same as us.

at Welling United has been rear-ranged for Tuesday, March
23 (7.45pm).
