Exile out to lift Terras
By Derek Bish
Saturday 13th February 2010
WELSHMAN Nathan Davies admits he is a little surprised to
see Weymouth languishing towards the bottom of the Blue Square
South table but has vowed to do what he can to guide the Terras
away from the relegation zone.
The 27-year-old midfielder, who has joined on loan from Newport
County for a month, will go straight into the squad for this
afternoons clash with Basingstoke Town (3pm).
However, he admitted it will be a little odd turning out
in colours other than his parent clubs amber and black.
It is my 10th year at Newport this year so its
strange being at another club, but Im looking forward
to it, said tough-tackling Davies. Im also
looking forward to get back playing football, doing the best
I can and hopefully getting Weymouth out of the relegation
zone.
Weymouth is a big club and the way its gone is
surprising. I dont know whats gone on but Ive
played against Weymouth a few times and they have always been
a strong team so it must be disappointing.
Im a ball winner, I will give 100 per cent and
bring people into play. I want to get these games under my
belt and get back to full fitness because its been a
really difficult season with injuries.
Manager Jerry Gill was hopeful of securing another signing
ahead of this afternoons visit of Basingstoke.
Meanwhile, Steve Beasant has denied speculation that he and
Chris Ryan have made an offer for the club but reiterated
they would be open to dialogue with current Terras chairman
George Rolls about assisting the current board.
We are still trying to assist the current owner and
weve been in dialogue with him, but nothing has been
concluded and nothing has been agreed, said Beasant.
Weymouth FC Supporters Travel Club is hoping to run
a coach to Welling on Tuesday.
The coach will leave the Wessex Stadium at 2.30pm and the
cost will be £21. To book a seat telephone Ian White
on 836361.
