Blow for Mackie
By Adam Summers

Wednesday 5th August 2009

WEYMOUTH midfielder Hector Mackie will be sidelined for up to six months due to a knee injury.

The ex-St Albans City star’s worst fears became reality yesterday when the results of a scan confirmed that he has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.

Terras’ boss Matty Hale said: “Hector is going to be out for six to seven months. We had it confirmed yesterday and it comes as a big blow as he was looking very good.

“He will now undergo an operation and in the meantime we will have to get by without him.

“Dean Smith is okay and trained on Monday night and Andy Harris is looking good as well so we have got options in that position but if it is possible we would like to get someone else in as well.”

Hale is also looking to strengthen his forward line before Saturday’s Blue Square South opener at Lewes with ex-Team Bath striker Joe Arnold being his main target.

The 21-year-old, who had a trial at Newport County earlier this summer, was expected to play in last Friday’s 2-2 draw at Paulton Rovers but was unable to make the game due to travel difficulties.

The Terras have announced new sponsorship deals with Weyland Construction and Weyline Taxis.

Weymouth FC Supporters’ Travel Club is running a coach to Lewes on Saturday. The coach will leave the Wessex Stadium at 9.30am and the cost will be £18. To book a seat telephone Pete Pavey on 787561
