Tillson exits for Exeter

WEYMOUTH boss Matty Hale is on the lookout for a new assistant after Andy Tillson accepted a position on the coaching staff at Coca-Cola League One side Exeter City.

Hale and Tillson were unveiled as the Terras’ new management team on May 19 but just 28 days later an offer to work under Grecians’ boss and close friend Paul Tisdale has proved too good for the ex-Bristol Rovers captain to turn down.

Hale said: “Andy has accepted an offer from Exeter City so unfortunately we have lost his services.

“The news comes as a bit of a blow and the timing is not great but it is a great opportunity for him and there is no way we could stand in his way.

“Andy is a great talent and that is why I brought him in but no one can deny him this chance. He is a great person and I wish him well in the future.”

As for Tillson’s potential replacement, Hale added: “That is something I am working on at the moment. I know who I want to get in and now I have to go and try and get him as he is with another club at present.”

Hale has so far signed five players this summer including Dean Grubb, Andy Harris, Dean Smith, Ryan Harrison and Matt Thorne.
