Hale hunts for hitmen
By Adam Summers
Tuesday 30th June 2009
WEYMOUTH manager Matty Hale is now concentrating his efforts
on adding some firepower to his squad.
Since taking charge in May the Terras boss has signed
goalkeeper Ryan Harrison, defenders Kyle Critchell and Scott
Brice, and midfielders Andy Harris, Dean Grubb, Hector Mackie,
Dean Smith and Matt Thorne but so far no new forwards have
been acquired.
And that is something Hale is determined to rectify in the
coming weeks. He said: My main focus now is on strikers.
I have built the main bulk of the team through the middle
but we now need to add some firepower.
We start pre-season training tonight and four or five
forwards should be there with more coming down over the next
fortnight, most of which have played at this level or above.
Hale held a meeting with his technical staff at the Wessex
Stadium last night ahead of this evenings first training
session and he is looking forward to seeing his new recruits
in action.
He added: I met with Ian Hutchinson, Dave Kiteley,
Andy Mason and Tim Davis last night and we all cannot wait
to get pre-season training underway.
We will all be meeting up at Budmouth this evening
where we are expecting around 25 to 30 lads to turn up.
They will include all those that have signed on, some
of the youngsters that took part in the trial game at Weymouth
College last month and several trialists, including a few
from Team Bath.
I also have a contact that is a friend of mine who
has recommended a lot of young lads to me, so over the next
few weeks we will be taking a look at some of them as well.
