Administration is a last resort

WEYMOUTH remain intent on avoiding administration, says director
Ian Winsor, despite the club needing a cash injection of £50,000.
Winsor last week revealed that the Terras require a short-term
investment of £50,000 to ensure their survival until
the new Blue Square South season gets underway.
So far, no one has come forward to offer financial aid but
Winsor is keen to steer clear of entering administration for
fear of the repercussions.
He said: In this current climate the last thing people
want to do is pour money into what they perceive to be a black
hole.
I know the structure at the club can work for next
season but at this time the only income clubs tend to have
is that of season ticket sales.
And at the moment thats a somewhat catch-22 situation
because people are reluctant to part with their money if they
are unsure about the clubs future.
Winsor added: The Football Conference is intent on
putting a rule change through regarding administration but
needs FA approval and my gut instinct is that the FA will
not sanction the rule change. So at this point Appendix E
is still in place, which means if Weymouth went into administration
now they would be ineligible for the Conference.
And with other leagues already holding their AGMs and
deciding upon the make-up of their respective divisions, it
would be difficult to find a place for Weymouth.
Therefore my view, and I think the boards is
the same, remains staying committed to avoiding administration
as it would create so many problems for the club.
We just need to survive the closed season, when all
clubs have difficulties, and then the games will come and
we will have some income.
