Deal for Coutts
By Adam Summers
Wednesday 21st May 2008
MIDFIELDER James Coutts put pen to paper on a one-year deal
at Weymouth yesterday and immediately insisted that 'exciting
times' lie ahead.
The 21-year-old has been impressed with the signings the
club has made so far this summer and is looking forward to
continuing his development under the guidance of boss John
Hollins and his assistant Alan Lewer.
He said: "It has all been signed and I am really happy.
It is what I have wanted from day one and now I just cannot
wait for the start of the season.
"The gaffer is building a young squad but he has also
added a few experienced heads in the likes of Santos Gaia
and Ryan Williams who are proven players at this level.
"So it seems like we are getting a nice mixture and
I am sure the boss will be looking to strengthen even more
over the next few weeks.
"I do not know the other youngsters who have been brought
in but I am sure they are just like me, Kyle Critchell, Scott
Doe, Anton Robinson and Stuart Beavon, and are hungry to do
well and push on.
"I am my biggest critic and I know at Christmas last season
I was not performing like I was at the start of the season.
In the end I turned that back around and now all I want to do
is continue improving and hopefully next season will be a big
one for all of us."
The Terras will be continuing talks with other potential
signings over the next few days while Paolo Vernazza and Michael
Malcolm are still considering their options.
* The Terras Trust will be holding their inaugural election
at the Wessex Stadium at 7.30pm on June 6.
To give the Trust members an opportunity to meet the candidates
and ask questions a hustings meeting will be held at the Wessex
Stadium tomorrow night at 7.30pm.
