Tully: Exeter are bigger club and have better play-off chances
By Adam Summers

Tuesday 23rd January 2007

EXETER City full-back Steve Tully reckons the Grecians are a "bigger club" than Weymouth and that the Devon side has more chance of making this season's play-offs in Nationwide Conference National.

Tully moved to St James' Park along with Lee Elam on January 12 after the Terras had transfer-listed their entire squad and announced that the club is facing a financial crisis.

Looking ahead to tonight's game, Tully said: "It will be special playing against Weymouth and hopefully we can stick one over them. Personally I think I have joined a bigger and better club that has got a more realistic chance of getting in the play-offs.

"I have got no idea what formation they will play but I know they haven't played since January 1 and that is a long time to go without a game. Hopefully we can start a run of results and kick on from here."

Elam is also confident that the Grecians can grab the three points tonight. He said: "Things are in disarray there (at Weymouth) at the minute and the players don't know what is going on. They haven't played a game for several weeks now and obviously they will not be match fit so hopefully we can take advantage of that."

Fellow ex-Terras Paul Buckle and Lee Phillips are also likely to be involved for City.

Grecians' boss Paul Tisdale said: "It is a big game and the fact it is a local derby adds to the occasion.

"We would like to avenge the defeat at Weymouth on Boxing Day so we have got a few reasons to want to win this game."

Exeter, who lost 3-1 at home to Gravesend & Northfleet on Saturday, are ninth and four points behind the seventh-placed Terras.
