Striker Beavon can lift gloom at the Wessex
By Adam Summers

Saturday 27th January 2007

NEW Weymouth striker Stuart Beavon is hoping to make his home debut today in the Nationwide Conference National clash against Northwich Victoria at the Wessex Stadium.

The 22-year-old had a prolific scoring record in the British Gas Business Southern League with his former club Didcot Town and he is confident that he can carry that form into his career with the Terras.

Beavon said: "This is a great move for me. It was either here or Rushden & Diamonds. I went to Rushden and the facilities were good but I then came down here and just had a gut-feeling that this was where I wanted to be and that is why I decided to sign.

"The only difference at the moment is fatness. Once I get up to full pace and in the swing of things then hopefully I will be able to start banging in the goals like I did for Didcot."

Beavon made his debut for the Terras in the 4-0 defeat at Exeter City on Tuesday when he came on as a late substitute.

He said: "Although it was only ten minutes I relished it and enjoyed it. A lot has happened here in the past couple of weeks but I have had assurances, and all I want to do is look forward and hopefully it will be okay.

"There is a lot of competition here which is good and hopefully I will be involved again against Northwich. If I am then I will take that chance with both hands.

"Everyone is helping me and chatting to me, and letting me know where I am going wrong and that is great. I am here to learn and become better, and so far I have really enjoyed it."

Beavon is especially looking forward to playing at the Wessex Stadium. He said: "I played in front of our fans the other night but I can imagine when it is near full here (Wessex Stadium) it will be even better."

• The Terras have signed Narada Bernard, 26, an experienced left-sided defender from Rushden & Diamonds.

He goes straight into the squad for today's game.
