We can add to our great FA Cup
memories
By Nigel Beckett

MANY supporters have great memories of Weymouth FA Cup adventures
over the years.
Trips to Cardiff City, Cambridge United and Swindon are still
fondly remembered on the terraces - more than 20 years on.
Saturday's trip to the City Ground will be one of those great
occasions that don't often come along for clubs like ours.
And what will make the journey up north all the more sweet
for the Terras is that supporters have endured plenty of pain
in recent seasons.
When skipper Matt Bound and the lads run out against Gary
Megson's side, I'm not afraid to say I'll be a very proud
man.
My love affair with Weymouth began 40 years ago when mother
Edna and father Clive, took me to my first match at the old
Recreation Ground.
From then I was hooked and since I've been lucky, or in some
cases not so fortunate, to have seen plenty of ups and downs.
Recent years have seen more low points - with plenty of upheaval
along the way but Saturday will make the hurt that so many
have suffered all worthwhile.
As for whether Weymouth can do the unthinkable and beat Forest,
who knows?
But I've got a quiet confidence about the tie, especially
with us' being fortunate enough to have manager Garry Hill
in charge.
He has a great cup record and if any man knows to cause an
upset in the competition it is him.
The sight of a couple of thousand Weymouth fans roaring the
team on will be superb and a great advert for the town.
Hopefully many newcomers travel to the City Ground will back
at the Wessex for our league fixtures.
To all those making the journey, have a safe trip and I look
forward to seeing you at the big game!
