Tuesday 8th November 2005
WEYMOUTH have landed a £100,000 windfall after it was
confirmed the club's FA Cup first round replay against Nottingham
Forest will be shown live on television.
Sky Sports will broadcast the game from the Wessex Stadium
next Monday, kick off 7.45pm.
Terras officials were today delighted by the news, which
comes just days after Garry Hill's side netted their share
of the gate receipts following a 1-1 draw at the City Ground
- a game played in front of a crowd of over 10,000.
Chief executive Gary Calder said: "We're delighted the
replay will be screened live on Sky Sports next Monday night.
"The coverage will introduce Weymouth Football Club
to millions of viewers as well as bringing in extra finance.
Every penny counts for non-League clubs such as ourselves
and with the money from Sky, ticket sales, sponsorship and
merchandise, we'll be looking at another bumper payday."
Sky Sports' coverage will be headed by Jeff Stelling with
Weymouth-born Ian Crocker in the commentary box.
Sky spokesman Jonathan Sim said: "Weymouth's draw at
Forest captured the imagination and we're delighted to be
screening the replay.
"It should be a cracking match and with his Weymouth
connections, Ian was the obvious choice of commentator."
Weymouth officials are expecting a 6,500 sell out for the
replay.
Tickets go on sale to Terras season ticket holders from 2pm
today and are restricted to two per season ticket holder.
Fans who show stubs from the City Ground tie can buy replay
tickets between 9am-2pm tomorrow, after which remaining tickets
will go on general sale.
Tickets are priced £10 for adults, £5 for seniors,
£2 for under-16s.
Car parking spaces at the Wessex Stadium will also be on
sale for £5 per vehicle.
