Hill takes time over trialist
Carey

GARRY Hill insists he won't be rushed on deciding trialist
Shaun Carey's long-term future.
The former Hornchurch midfielder is hoping to earn a deal
at the Wessex Stadium after missing nearly all last season
with a cruciate ligament injury.
The ex-Republic of Ireland under 21 international is set
for another chance to impress Hill tonight when Weymouth host
Coca Cola League One outfit Brentford tonight (7.30pm).
But the Terras boss says he is in no hurry to thrash out
an agreement with Carey who he managed at Hornchurch last
season.
Hill said: "There's still some time between now and
mid August when the season starts and I certainly don't want
to rush into making a decision on Shaun.
"I know all about Shaun's ability as a player and he
is someone who can definitely add something to our midfield.
"He is obviously anxious to sort something out but we
need to ensure he is 100 per cent right fitness wise before
anything happens.
"There are a few more games left in our pre season programme
and we'll monitor Shaun's level of performance over those
before deciding what to do."
Striker Wayne Purser and winger Adam Wilde are both named
in the squad for the visit of the Bees tonight having recovered
from knocks picked up last week.
But Chukki Eribenne and Dan Webb are unlikely to be risked
having missed the Terras last two warm-up outings.
"Neither Chukki nor Dan's knocks are particularly serious
but we'll see how they are later today before deciding on
whether they will play," said Hill.
"I've been pleased with our pre season performances
so far and each game has been beneficial in either confirming
things to me or showing where we still need to do some work.
"I'm expecting things to move on a stage further over
the next couple of weeks and our next two games, against Brentford
tonight and at Portland on Friday, are central to those preparations."
