Cancer appeal needs your support

INSPIRED mums are urging firms to show their generosity to boost a Terras star's cancer appeal.

Luana Kelly and Julie Mowlam hope businesses will rally behind them as they raise cash for the Oakley Waterman Appeal.

Six-year-old Oakley, the son of Weymouth Football Club star Dave Waterman, is terminally ill with cancer.

His parents are raising funds to purchase a £32,000 respite caravan on the Sussex coast to help other
families affected by the disease.

Weymouth mums Luana and Julie are holding a gala fete and raffle this weekend to boost the appeal after reading in the Echo about Oakley's battle.

Luana, who lives in Glendinning Avenue, said: "Both myself and Julie have young children so hearing about Oakley really struck a chord.

Support

"We want to do something to help so have organised a fete and raffle in support of the Oakley Waterman Appeal.

"We're planning on visiting firms in the town and asking them to donate prizes, and we would really appreciate their support for such a worthy cause.

`A few generous offers have already come in, such as from Asda and the Hotel Rembrandt which is providing a ballroom for the event free of charge, but we'd really appreciate more prizes."

The gala fete and auction is being held at the Hotel Rembrandt on July 24 between lpm and 4pm.

Admission is free. Anyone wishing to donate prizes should call Luana on 0792 1180149.
