Danny Dazzler

NEW Terras signing Danny Byrne is being tipped for the top
following his stunning 83rd-minute strike at the Wessex Stadium
last night.
The ex-Manchester United youngster scored one of the best
goals seen at Radipole Lane in recent years
to put his side in front against Weston-super-Mare.
However, the 19-year- old's cracking 35-yard curler proved
in vain as the visitors hit back with a scrambled effort a
minute from time to earn a share of the spoils.
"I'm gutted for the team and gutted for Danny,"
said Terras boss Steve Johnson.
"You won't see a better goal than that for a long while
and it deserved to win the game.
For them to equalise in the 89th minute is bad enough but
to do it with a horrible, scrambled, ugly one
makes it even worse.
"But on a night like this you have to concentrate on
the good things and Danny's goal was world class.
He a terrific player with bags of ability and that goal underlined
what he's capable of.
"You don't spend time at Manchester United as an apprentice
without being a bit special and at 19 I think he's got a wonderful
future ahead.
He's with us on a match-to-match basis although I want to
get him tied on a contract because I'm certain he'll be a
massive asset to us."
Although disappointed not to have taken all three points,
Johnson admitted a draw was a fair result in game dominated
by defenders.
He said: "We did OK first half. Our build-up play was
fairly pleasing but we just didn't have that spark in front
of goal.
We kept on working hard and looking for openings but Weston
defend deep and well.
"I said to the lads that we needed to up the tempo at
half-time but unfortunately we didn't do that.
It was them who came out and did that after the break while
we stayed at the same pace."
He added: "When all's said and done I'm quite happy with
a point because Weston were' well organised and hard working
as we knew they would be."
Johnson was left with more injury worries after Steve Tully
was forced out of the action midway through the second period.
The former Torquay man is suffering from shin splints and
is now a major doubt for Saturday's trip to
Bishop's Stortford.
"I got some right stick from the fans when I took Steve
off," added Johnson.
"But I wouldn't have done it unless he had a problem.
"The lad is suffering badly from shin splints and it's
another body to add to the injured list."
