Weston woe for Terras
By ECHO Reporter
WEYMOUTH can have no complaints as they were outplayed by a
Weston team looking for their first win of the season.
Terras boss Matty Hale started with the same side that
had beaten Worcester City last Saturday and included himself
on the bench with Tyler Sibbick, Jordon Rose, Scott Brice
and keeper Simon Evans.
The visitors were under pressure for most of the first half
and were fortunate to be trailing by a single goal, but disaster
struck 15 minutes into the second half when Matt Groves was
shown a straight red card for a two-footed tackle on Westons
Mike Green.
Early on former Terra Jack Comp-ton caused problems with
his speed on the left and he delivered three excellent crosses
in as many minutes.
Another ex-Terra Marvin Brown was off target three times
early on, Craig Rand once while Ashen Holgate forced a diving
save from Terras keeper Ryan Harrison. Central defender
David OBaze was forced to make several telling challenges.
Weymouths only chance of the half came on 26 minutes
when Jake Reid ended a good move by firing across the home
goal.
However, Westons pressure paid off on 31 minutes when
Harrison did well to turn another Brown effort over his crossbar
and from the resulting corner Clayton Fortune put the home
side in front.
With the strong wind behind them for the second half, Weymouth
came more into the game, Chris Allen firing across goal and
Matt Townley having a corner kick palmed to safety by home
keeper Kevin Sawyer.
After Groves was dismissed by referee Chris Miller, Weymouth
had their best spell when they brought Rose on for Matt Cooper
and had their only effort on target on 63 minutes Andy
Harris tested Sawyer with a strong header.
Weston made the extra man count and substitute Marc McGregor
got their second from a corner on 76 minutes before adding
a third five minutes later.
Just before the final whistle, Harrison pulled off a point-blank
save to deny McGregor a hat-trick.
This defeat sees the Terras remain in 16th position but drops
Dorchester Town into the Blue Square South drop zone.
