Bashley 0 v 1 Weymouth - 5th August 2003

New Forest triumph but Impey injured for Terras
by David Swain

6th August 2003

There was another injury headache for Terras boss Steve Claridge as he watched his side edge out Bashley in the New Forest last night with a well taken goal from Kevin Gill.

Defender Jamie Impey appeared as a 74th minute substitute for a side missing a number of recognised first teamers, but lasted only ten minutes before hobbling off in pain after appearing to injure his lower back in a fall.

When the final whistle blew he was clearly still in considerable pain as he was helped across the pitch to the dressing rooms.

On a brighter note for the Terras, trialist Gill again impressed, particularly in the first half, and could well have done enough to earn himself a contract. He took his chance well from 15 yards in the 25th minute after being set up by Carl Mutch.

Earlier Scott Partridge spurned the chance to give his side the lead from the penalty spot.

Leon Green was pushed in the area, but Partridge's powerless spot kick was saved by Bashley's reserve keeper Simon Arthur who dived to his left to push the ball away.

In a game of few clear-cut chances, Bashley moved the ball around crisply but the Terras defence was generally in control.
