Weymouth railway station is situated in King Street which is
2 miles from the Wessex Stadium, so unless you fancy a hike the
following are recommended.
Matchday Special Bus:
On matchday there are two football special buses which are provided
by Wessex Bus from Kings Statue on the seafront departing from Bus
Stop K2 adjacent to the Tourist Information Centre, at 2pm on Saturday's
and 7.00pm for midweek matches.
Wessex Buses will be running a service for the reserve matches.
Departing K7 at 6.10pm and leaving the Wessex Stadium 10 minutes
after the final whistle.
Kings Statue is located a short stroll from the station. On exiting
the station head across the forecourt towards the traffic lights
and cross over King Street outside the Somerset Hotel. Turn left
and head towards the seafront (you will see the clock in front of
you).
Turn Right at the Jubilee Clock and cross over at the crossing to
the beach side of the esplanade (don't go down the subway!!!!).
Now walk along the esplanade for about 400 metres and you will see
the tourist information centre, which is next to the Bus Stop. Nearest
pub is the Cork and Bottle, right opposite the TIC.
The bus then picks up at Town Bridge which is located at the harbour
end of St Thomas Street (very useful if you've been drinking in
town), then along North Quay (picking up behind The Boot, for you
Real Ale fans), Chickerell Road and Radipole Lane, picking up at
Bus Stops en route to the Wessex Stadium.
After matches the bus departs from outside the Club Shop returning
to town, although it has been known to depart from outside the main
gate after bigger games.
For big matches, extra buses may be provided.
Taxis:
If you want to get to the ground early to soak up the atmosphere
and enjoy the bar and catering facilities, your best bet is to catch
a taxi. They are reasonably priced compared to a lot of towns and
if there are 3/4 of you (or more if you can get an 8 seater) it
can be cheaper and quicker to get a taxi. It will cost approximately
£5/£6 from the station/town to the ground.
Taxis are available from the rank located on the station forecourt.
Alternatively Weyline Taxis are located in Queen Street, outside
the station between The Railway Tavern and Giant Pot.
If you are visiting many of the fine hostelries in town, there
is a taxi rank outside The Swan (Wetherspoons), or the following
taxi firms have offices in town:
Weyline Taxis (01305 777777), Fleetline (01305 784252), Bee Cars
(01305 775151) and Weytax (01305 773636 or 783636)
Alternative buses:
You can catch the following First Bus Routes (although taxi is recommended
for convenience if there are a few of you to share costs and you
get dropped off right outside the ground).
No. 5 Radipole - This route gets you closest to the ground and
has a 40 minute frequency in the day time, but nothing in the evening.
Ask the driver for Chafeys Avenue which is just a 2 minute walk
from the Wessex Stadium.
No. 3 Hereford Road - This route has a 10 minute frequency during
the day and half hourly during the evening. Ask for Radipole Lane
which is a 6/7 minute stroll along Radipole Lane to the Wessex Stadium.
Both buses can be caught from King Street Roundabout just a few
minutes from the station. Head out of the station and turn right
down King Street. Cross over and turn left at the roundabout. The
Bus Stop is located next to the roundabout in front of the Bus Garage.
Both routes go via the Town Centre and pick up at Commercial Road
(behind Debenhams) and Town Bridge at the harbour end of St Thomas
Street
I am sure the nice driver will tell you where you need to get off
the bus, and which way to head to the ground.

Getting back to town the Football Special Bus as described above
is easiest. Or if you stay for a few more ales ring for a taxi from
the bar!!!
