Oxford was hit hard by the plague (1348 - 1350) and during this time the local colleges kept country houses outside of the city where scholars could flee, no such opportunities for the ordinary resident, however.

As a result, Oxford's population dropped dramatically during this period, and the colleges took full and grisly advantage of the fact by buying up vacant property and greatly expanding their holdings within Oxford.

Leave Weymouth and head towards the east on the A35, A31 and then get yourself onto the M3. Leave the M3 at jct9 (A34). Head north on the A34 for about 50 miles, when you reach the southern outskirts of Oxford leave the A34 at the A4074/A4142 and the ground is signposted from here.
